This Scalp Scrub Shampoo Made My Hair Feel Like It Got a Reset

If your hair colors have been infiltrated with accumulation, contamination, commuting or labor-demanding days, I suggest the new Crown Affair The Cleansing Scrub as a scalp treatment product. I did it, and after weeks of using a screen, dust-laden air and constant stress because of my start-up job, it seemed like a reset button to my hair and scalp.

I began applying The Cleansing Scrub to myself once a week and it became a part of my wash-day routine. Here’s my step-by-step:

  • I then sprayed my hair deep in water and rubbed a fair amount of the scrub inside my head about a quarter-sized. The directions indicate that it should be rubbed on the scalp then water should be added.
  • I massaged my roots with my fingertips, through my temples, the crown and my hairline. The surface is coarse at first (with the help of the coarse Bolivian pink salt) but turns into a richer foam upon rinsing.
  • There was a full scalp massage and then I rinsed. Then I applied my usual conditioner (or occasionally applied a hydrating mask) to ensure that the ends of my hair were also covered.
  • My head, I could feel, had been much clearer and much lighter, less weighty or congested, after being towel-dried. During the subsequent few washes my hair was soft, bouncy and clean at the roots, something it had not been in months.

Features I Loved

1. Light peel + Deep Clean

The Cleansing Scrub is a fine bolivian pink salt grain that removes product build up, oil, dirt and pollution of the scalp without being a stripping agent. The brand claims to eliminate the impurities on the scalp and completely dissolve in water, cleaning up the accumulation and dirt.

2. Soft, Silky‐Feeling Hair

Having applied this scrub, my hair stands, although one has colour-treated ends and spends all day at the screen, became smoother and less hard. Since the scalp was no longer burdened with accumulation, the hair became elevated at the origins and made it feel lighter.

3. Hair-Colour Cleaning and Friendly Formula

The plus is one: this product will not harm colour-treated hair (i.e. your hair colours do count). I liked that crown-level treatment. The formula is surfactant-free and is made of coconut-derived surfactants and is not strip.

4. Easy to Use

It has a nice texture: it will give you a light scrub of your head, and then it starts to lather. The smell of bergamot, yuzu and lemongrass (in one of the reviews) was faint. The small self-care after spending long hours at the computer was perfect.

How It Helped My Hair

  • Scalp lighter: I would experience a heavy and itchy scalp after long days and mostly in humidity and dust. My irritation was less and I was feeling much more comfortable after using it first.
  • My hair felt more tender: The accumulation which was rendering my hair coarse and slow close to the root, was relieved. The lengths were more comfortable as I conditioned.
  • Less flat, more bouncy: The roots were lifted higher, the hair was more volumised and was easier to move, without the film on my head.

How to Use It for Best Results

  • Wet hair thoroughly.
  • Put a quarter size of the scrub at the top of your head (do not use the entire length).
  • Rubbing massages: Massage the top, hairline, crown and temples, and so on, 1-2 min. The roughness of the grain will peel.
  • Wet with some water and rub into a froth, rinse.
  • Conditioner or mask the lengths.
  • Apply once weekly or as required particularly when you have been overly exposed to pollution, sweat, humid weather or when using excessive amounts of styling gel.
  • Should you have a very sensitive or fine scalp then you can begin at every two weeks then add should there be a need.

Final Verdict

In case you are seeking a product that actually restores your hair, particularly the scalp, which is the root of hair health, the foundation of hair health, then The Cleansing Scrub by Crown Affair is the best choice. It restored a delicate nature to my hair, clarity to my head and back some confidence to my hair routine. To a workaholic, changing neighborhood, spending hours on a screen, time-starved (that is me recently), such a clean scalp / smoother hair mix was just the right medicine.

This one is worth trying in case you are concerned about your hair colours, the health of roots, the comfort and general softness of your scalp. I am really excited: it could well become your wash-day favourite.
